JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort Appoints Executive Team Leading Property Through 2020 Opening

Orange County’s highly-anticipated luxury travel destination, the JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort announces Nusrat Mirza as its General Manager and Maribel Denner as its Director of Sales and Marketing. The new executive team will lead the resort through its grand opening on April 2020, and serve as strategic leaders and visionaries for the new build hotel.

The JW Marriott Anaheim Resort, owned by a joint venture between Prospera Hotels, Inc. and O’Connell Hotel Group, is located at the Anaheim GardenWalk, just steps from the Disneyland Resort®, Anaheim Convention Center and all the other attractions of Anaheim including Angels Stadium, home of the Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Honda Center, home of National Hockey League’s Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

Nusrat Mirza, an established industry leader with more than 40 years of hospitality experience, joins the property from the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa. Mirza served as General Manager for over five years at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa and led the property through a multi-million dollar renovation. Mirza’s efforts transformed the hotel into a leading Southern California wellness resort, increasing overall revenue and earning it recognition as a premier spa resort.

Maribel Denner will also fill a key role on the leadership team as Director of Sales and Marketing. Bringing over 30 years of hospitality experience with her, Denner has earned accolades as a top one percent performer for Marriott International and Group Sales Leader of the Year. She previously served as Director of Sales for Marriott Southwest Group Sales, where she managed over 30 personnel and was responsible for top-line group sales revenue, generating over $100 million annually for 35 hotels within Southern California. Denner has also served as President for Meeting Professionals International for the Southern California Chapter (MPISCC), President of the El Camino College Foundation Board and as a chair for the MPI Diversity & Inclusion Task Force in 2018.

The new JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort will be the first luxury hotel located outside of theme park gates, and the first JW Marriott to open in Orange County; which Mirza says makes the project a groundbreaking addition to both Anaheim and Orange County’s tourism offerings.

“This is truly a significant project, and it is an honor to serve on the JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort’s leadership team,” continued Mirza. “We are absolutely thrilled to present an entirely new luxury experience to one of the world’s most sought after travel destinations. Through exceptionally designed spaces and amenities, a holistic approach to wellbeing and artistry that is truly one-of-a-kind, the JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort will be a space where anything is possible.”
